So it's a bit unrealistic, has perhaps a little too much casual - although not graphic - sex, and leads to a sort of too-good-to-be-true ending, I could say that about many books that aren't half so well written, interesting and filled with people you enjoy knowing (or in some cases hating)! I 'browse' through a lot of self-published novels and had just discarded a bunch after the 2nd or 3rd (or 1st!) chapter. This one I picked up and didn't stop until the wee hours when I couldn't keep my eyes open ..... and then grabbed it again the first thing in the morning. Not because it was action-packed or had me on the edge of my seat with suspense, but simply because I enjoyed it -- very much! ---- One note: I think the cover does it a disservice. It just doesn't "fit" in my opinion and because of the cover I was almost sure I wouldn't like it. So if the cover doesn't appeal, don't let that keep you from reading it.

Undertow eBook Elizabeth O'Roark Reviews

Edge of your seat conflicts, right and left Maura and Nate come together then being forced apart. All told from Maura's p.o.v., in a space of years, she has chapters of the present then others of the past. How her grandfather was more of a romantic, while her grandmother- parents and brother are rich snobby selfish controlling and the lost goes on. After her beloved grandfather passing how her life when from sad to broken when Nate and her had their time together then forced apart with lies, two different lies, she gets a 'letter' from Nate and how he didn't love her and had a gf, and for Nate- well he got the worse lie of all. Between the conflict of her heart, her past and now 5 years after the last time with Nate, she has to go back and be near him, but with a bf that is well.... just like her parents and her brother's best friend,.take a guess what's about to happen.

Second chances, third chances, lies, blackmail, rich snobby idiots, a girl that lets her family control her no matter what she said, and a boy turn man that found his soul mate when he was two and she was a baby.
This is a second chance romance between Maura from a wealthy family and Nate, the maid’s son. Ever since thery were toddlers, Nate was very protective of Maura and she simply adored him. Every summer, when Maura spent time at her grandparents’ mansion, they were always together and gradually had an intimate relationship. However the disparity in their social status became a huge obstacle in being together. The book was engaging and I finished it quite quickly. My biggest complaint about the book is the loose morals. Apart from Maura, most of the women in the books were sluts.
I LOVED this book. I am now strugglng through work today because I sat up all night to finish it. If you love books by Tammara Webber, Samantha Young, Jessica Sorensen, etc. this is one for you! I really liked Maura, the main character, and, obviously, LOVED her former boyfriend NATE. Nate and Maura meet again when Maura returns to the beach town where she spent her summers as a child. Maura is being crushed by the life and expectations put upon her by her parents. As you get glimpes of her past, you being to understand why she was never able to get over Nate, and longs for a life she does not think is possible. I got completely sucked in. . .
This is my first book by this author and I really loved the idea of it being a strange friends to lovers and sort of a second chance romance feel. I wasn't she what was going to happen.

I really liked Maura. She wasn't like her snooty family and while she didn't use the back bone I felt she had, when she finally stood up for her self I couldn't help but smile. She was funny and down to earth.

Nate is amazing! I wish we had gotten into his head with this book, but even with out his POV I still could feel his emotions. He was the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, but he was amazing! I would have went for him in a heart beat.

I don't want to say that this is a Romeo and Juliet type romance, but in the forbidden, wrong side of the tracks aspect it was. Things were a little bit predictable, but it was still really enjoyable. Filled with misunderstandings and crazy tension between Nate and Maura, you can't help but root for them to be together. I have to say that while the end felt final, it didn't at the same time to me.

Overall, the author did an amazing chance. I wanted to scream and throw my kindle a few times but the story she wrote was beautiful. I can't help but want more! I don't want this to be to be the end of these characters. I feel like It wasn't an ending. It didn't feel final to me. So maybe she will write more, I hope so.. 4 stars #2OCCJD
