This was an addictive read for me. It was highly entertaining, funny and for some parts has me really dreading dating again!!! I love Lucia, she is funny, intelligent, beautiful and wants what a lot of women want, a good relationship, but can't seem to find one. Instead this is her exciting, twisted and somewhat unbelievable tale of bad luck in the dating world. I think I would want to just curl up and give up if I were her. She kept me interested with her wonderful group of friends and all her antics. It made me want to take another trip to New York to be part of her story even more. Jackson was intriguing to me. I loved their hate relationship at work, then the love hate relationship. It was quite the enjoyment and tease. I think we all need a co-worker/friend to keep us on our toes like that. Overall it was a funny enjoyable read, and thanks to a fellow good read friend for referring it to me!Tags : Chat Love - Kindle edition by Justine Faeth. Chat Love edition by Justine Faeth Romance eBooks Reviews
Lucia Pia is a successful career woman in the television industry, but she is having absolutely no luck in romance. She is feeling loads of pressure from her traditional Italian-American family to "just find a nice Italian boy and settle down". Seeing her good friends in relationships only makes her feel more lonely. Out of desperation, she decides to join "Chat Love", and online dating site, in an effort to try to meet someone interested in a long- term relationship, possibly marriage. Successive dates, night after night that are complete failures, meeting jerk after jerk leaves her more discouraged. The whole time she works with a guy who she is attracted to but has a reputation for being a bit of a playboy. But things are not always what they seem, and the reader enjoys a happy ending.
I thought the book was funny, giving an accurate picture of the challenges in the modern dating scene, as well as the unique method of online dating and all the unusual people one is bound to come across. From men with disgusting personal habits, to stalkers, guys with one track minds (not only in the physical sense, but also with obsessions like politics) boring the listener to distraction, and guys that want to go to the poshest restaurant in town and order immense amounts of food, then skip out leaving their date with the bill. Plus the stigma associated with online dating that the subscriber must be desperate, or socially inept, or else, surely they could get a date like every other normal person? If you are looking for a light, humorous, modern day romance-- this is it.
What happens when you reach your late 20's and have not married in a large Italian family? You get pressured to marry and make some babies! ASAP! What do you do to make that happen when there is no man in site? You join Chat Love, an online dating service to get yourself a man! Chat Love follows the story of Lucia Pia who just wants to be loved. That's not a lot to ask, is it? It doesn't help that her family and friends supply her with pressure that she does not need. She joins an online dating service as her last hope. Lucia ends going on a series of dates that made me laugh even though I felt sorry for her. There are some truly interesting "characters" on Chat Love. Eventually Lucia meets someone on the site that she may be compatible with but nothing pans out. While all of this is going on you begin to see the blossoming of what could be what she is looking for. Or is it what she is looking for. Although this story seems easy to predict, it doesn't go the way you think. There are some cute twists and turns along the way. I enjoyed reading Chat Love. It has that ticklish component that we chick lit readers love. I cannot ever see myself in the online dating world. It was interesting, however, to learn that the author had her own run with online dating. I am sure the hilarity in the book comes from a genuine place. I look forward to reading future books by this author. I appreciate her gift of this book and that I was able to read and review it.
I recommended it to my daughter because I loved it and i knew she would too! Great story, loved every bit! I couldnt put it down.
I enjoyed reading this book very much, once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. I related with the main character 100%!
This book is lip biting and very hard to stop reading. Was a great quick read i will definitely suggest to my girlfriends.
Chat Love was an AmAzInG story of a young woman looking for love! It had everything I look for in a good book... A good storyline, interesting characters, humor, and love! I would recommend it to anyone! I took it on vacation with me and was the last person at the pool everyday because I didn't want to put it down!
Justine Faeth is my new favorite author. For a first novel I have to say she "hit it out the park!" I don't write spoiler reviews or recap the book. I loved each character and the friendships they shared. There were times with Lucia and Jackson that I wanted them to get on with it already but the suspense of their relationship kept me right on the edge and wondering what would happen between them next. The relationship between Lucia and her sister and her parents made me feel bad for Lucia. However, she comes off as a strong single New York City woman, I'm assuming somewhat like Justine herself.
I loved "Chat Love" and I cannot wait for Justine Faeth's 2nd novel to go on sale.
